How it works
Pick the folders PDTL should look after. Group them into backup sets that make sense to you.
PDTL sends new and changed files to your private cloud storage. Files it already holds are left alone.
Find what you need and bring it back — to the same machine or to a new one you have signed in on.
Security
You should not have to understand any of this to be safe. It is here because some people want to know, and because we think you are entitled to.
The PDTL application reads only the folders you chose. It holds no storage credentials of any kind.
Sign-in is protected by a password and an authenticator code. Nothing proceeds until both are satisfied.
A server-side service checks who you are and what your subscription allows, then authorises one file at a time.
Files are written to private object storage, encrypted at rest, and separated from every other customer.
PDTL does not offer zero-knowledge or end-to-end encryption. Your files are encrypted in transit and at rest, and access is restricted to your account — but we are able to restore your data, which a zero-knowledge service could not do.

PDTL for iPhone shows the same account: what is protected, how much storage you are using, and what has run recently. The heavy lifting stays on your computer, where your files are.

Your PDTL cloud storage allowance is the space your backups occupy on our servers. A PDTL pendrive is a physical device you keep. They are separate benefits: the capacity printed on a pendrive is not your cloud allowance, and filling one does not affect the other.

Any folders you choose on a computer running PDTL — documents, photographs, project files, archives. You group them into backup sets and PDTL protects everything inside them.
In private cloud object storage operated on our behalf, encrypted in transit and at rest. Nothing is stored in a publicly accessible location, and your data is separated from every other customer's.
Yes. PDTL was built to be usable without any technical knowledge, and works exactly the same for one laptop as for a company.
Yes. Several devices can be protected under one company account, and you can see which of them are protected and when each last ran.
Yes. Install PDTL on the other machine, sign in to the same account, and what PDTL holds for you is available to restore there.
No. There is no AWS, Azure or Google account to create, and no storage contract to sign. The subscription covers the storage.
With a password and a second factor from an authenticator app. Two-factor authentication is required rather than optional, and PDTL will not open until it has been completed.
PDTL tells you before a backup would exceed it, and that backup does not run. Nothing already protected is deleted. You can free up space or move to a larger plan.
The Windows application is built and working. The public installer is not yet published — the download button here will go live the moment it is.
